Does AFAMS have any models, simulations, or simulators?

AFAMS is the executive agent for the Air Force Modeling and Simulation Training Toolkit (AFMSTT). AFMSTT is an aggregate set of computer simulation models and support tools used to facilitate the training of senior commanders and their battlestaffs in the execution of joint and combined operations. AFAMS serves as the release authority for all of the AFMSTT Release Baseline software products and will provide to requesting user sites with appropriate permission.  AFAMS does not have any simulators.

What is Modeling and Simulation (M&S)?

A model is a physical, mathematical or otherwise logical representation of a system, entity, phenomenon or process. A simulation is a method for implementing a model over time. M&S is a technique used for acquisition, analysis, experimentation, planning, testing, or training, where the model can represent a "real-world" system or concept. There are three classes of simulations: live, virtual and constructive. Live simulation involves real people operating real systems. Virtual simulations involve real people operating simulated systems. Constructive simulations involve simulated people operating simulated systems. [DOD M&S Glossary, 1998].
